A Different Approach:
Teaching Tailored to You
Latin can be FUN?
Connection and Engagement
Eli Williams graduated from Princeton University with a classics degree and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Harvard University. He has spent the last 25 years teaching Latin to all types of learners. He has helped 6th graders failing Latin 1 and worked with AP Latin students hoping to get a 5 on the AP exam and each student has improved, many of these dramatically. Additionally, Eli has worked with students with a variety of learning profiles. To help each student find success, Eli develops and tailors a learning plan that worked for that student. As a result all of his students have improved, many dramatically.
While earning his Masters at Harvard University, Eli did research around the way students learn Latin. Each student learns in a different way and it's often not the rote memorization way that Latin is taught. Eli works hard in the first session (it's free) to figure out how a student learns best and then builds a plan for each student that plays on that student's strengths and what he/s she can do. Eli then constantly enlists the student's help to figure out what's working and what isn't. Because of his experience with so many types of learners, Eli has effective strategies that support individual strengths.
Eli's tutoring focuses on 2 important aspects of learning that are sometimes neglected in a Latin classroom: teacher connection and fun. Eli teaches because he likes helping young people. As a result, he works hard to establish a connection with each of his students. Because Eli works so hard to build this rapport, students feel comfortable explaining what works and what doesn't work, and it allows Eli to adjust his lessons accordingly.   Learning can and should be joyful and fun. In a tutoring session, Eli and his student might be singing, joking, dancing, playing games, telling stories in Latin and English, sharing Roman anecdotes, etc. Latin can be fun and if a student isn't learning, the lesson can quickly and easily be adapted .
You will be pleased to know that Student scored a 5 on the Latin AP,-Thank you so much for all the help you gave him.

Mr. Williams is simply a great teacher (and a pretty cool guy). He is extremely enthusiastic about teaching Latin and also is very respectful. He is truly honest and caring, always interested in how I was feeling. I really learned a lot from him and came to really enjoy (and become good at) Latin. I will really miss him.

Eli has an uncanny knack for making Latin attainable even to my young children. He meets my kids where they are, allowing them to relax and warm up to the learning process in a warm and supportive environment

Mr. Williams, it was a joy to be your student this year. You have a remarkable ability to both invigorate Latin while also making it a less daunting prospect. Thanks for all your help!
